Granular loading Garnet

Garnet is a high-strength granular load used to remove suspended solids and turbidity in multimedia filters.
Garnet of various granulometric compositions is used as a support layer, as well as in multimedia filters to remove suspended particles and turbidity.
Garnet has a number of advantages over other loads that are commonly used to remove suspended solids.
As a result of backwashing, its particles with high specific gravity and small size are distributed in the lower part of the tank, while larger particles are located in the upper layers of the load. Thus, the most complete removal of mechanical particles of various sizes is achieved. This provides high filtration rates and longer service life without reducing water head losses, while backwashing requires higher flow rates than other loads. Garnet # 8-12 is used in multimedia filters as a bottom support layer for lighter filter media.
Garnet # 30-40 is used in multimedia fine filters and, if properly designed, can retain suspended particles of 10-20 microns in size.

CONDITIONS OF APPLICATION

Layer height: 7.5 – 25 cm (3 – 9 inches).
Layer expansion: 35 – 50%.
The water flow rate in service mode: 12 m / h (5 GPM / ft2) and above.
Backwash: 32 – 44 m3 / h (13-18 GPM / ft2)/.
