Sand and gravel
Certain fractions of sand and gravel are used in water treatment systems to remove suspended particles as a filter material and a support layer.
Sand and gravel are natural minerals characterized by a high content of silicon oxide and a small number of soluble compounds of calcium, iron, and manganese.
The high quality of these materials, their chemical properties, as well as a certain particle size distribution, meet the stringent requirements for water treatment systems.
Sand is used in industrial, municipal, and domestic water treatment systems to remove suspended particles.
The gravel with the correct spherical shape ensures high water flow rates and distribution in the support layer.
Gravel contains a minimum amount of soluble compounds and is a chemically inert material, without affecting the quality of the treated water.
When used in a support bed, the recommended gravel bed height is 8 cm.

Solubility in acids: 0.3 – 1.6%.

Expansion: 20% layer.

municipal: 3.6 – 4.8 m3 / hour (1.5-2 gpm / ft2);
industrial: 7.2 m / h (3 gpm / ft2);
household: 12 l / h (5 gpm / ft2);
backwash: 36 – 48 m3 / h (15 – 20 GPM / ft2).
